Tish Owen's down-to-earth and casually-compelling-writing style is like a breath of fresh air! She definitely knows her stuff, spells-wise, etc., but she doesn't even once come off as condescending when revealing her extensive knowledge. Before jumping in with her spells on everything from invisibility to pregnancy, she painstakingly covers the basics: what magic really is, the importance of belief, the elements. visualization, karma, moon phases, the signs of the zodiac and 13 easy steps to performing a spell. On top of this, Owen goes into the different methods of spellwork: Candle Magic, Cord Magic, Poppets, Sex Magic, Thoughtform Entities, Crystals and Stones, and Oils, Herbs and Tarot Cards. Some spells take as long as 30 days to complete (like the one on breaking addiction), whereas others are seven-day and three-day spells. Owen is careful to include whether they should be done during a waxing or waning moon, etc. And, personally, I liked the inclusion of optional tarot cards for each of the various spells. There's a wonderful glossary in the back filled with terms you don't hear all the time like: "NONA-neighborhood occult/new age shop" and "void of course moon-occurs when the moon in transit makes its final major aspect before it changes from one sign of the zodiac to the next. This only lasts for a few hours. It ends when the moon enters the next sign. In astrological terms, it is a period when you should just hunker down and wait until the moon enters the next zodiac sign before you do spellwork (or just about anything else)" (p. 279). Whether you're looking for spells from banishment to world peace, this book just about covers them all, and in both a straightforward and accessible manner.

If you have read Tish Owen's previously published book, Chasing the Rainbow (see my review at http://www20.brinkster.com/gleasonreview/ ), you know why I enjoy reading her work. She writes in a friendly, chatty style, while still conveying the essential information. Even when I'm not really a big fan of the topic (and I don't really like spell books), I enjoy how she presents the information.
Tish has made every effort to make the spells she provides easy to accomplish. The instructions are clear; the basics are repeated as needed (you can't say "I forgot" because she won't let you forget); and the ingredients are, for the most part, easily obtainable. Add to that the fact that she provides encouragement for the reader to create their own spells, and you have a well-written spell book.
Tish provides spells for a variety of uses from breaking an addiction to stopping gossip. While she may not have dealt with EVERY eventuality, she has certainly dealt with a significant number of potential situations. You should be able to find inspiration for almost any use within the covers of this book.
Tish is an author who knows how to get her lessons across. You won't want to "read" this book, you'll want to refer to it. Read the first few and last few sections of the book ("If At First You Don't Succeed…Read the Directions", "Real Magic", "Different Methods of Spellwork", "Glossary", and "References/Resources") and use the rest of it as needed.
You won't find a lot of ceremonial in her spells. Tish writes for the average individual. It is easy to see why she is one of the up and coming authors being published by WillowTree Press. I hope to see a lot more of her work in the future.

Awesome and funny, what a fun book to read! I am a novice at Spell work, actually never tried it before so I will have to let you know how that all goes, but the book is awesome. Very well written and she had me grinning and thinking about my life and where I want to go, very clever writing, I loved it all the way through. I say keep an open mind, read this book and make it fun. I can't wait for her next one.

Beware, powerful stuff inside this book. I know of Tish Owen through a friend of mine and I was able to get an advance copy of this book. Wow. Be prepared for what you're getting into. There are very powerful and highly successful spells in this book. As happens sometimes, there were a few spells that had some hidden surprises in them but that is the nature of casting spells! Tish Owen's voice is very easy to read and companionable. I highly recommend this book to people that are ready to get things going with their spellcraft!

Complete and With Charm! I found Tish Owen's Book "Spell it Correctly" Full of charm, intelligence and not overlooking gaps that can sometimes be forgotten in spells! She covers it all with humor and detail. She even mentions Great reference books as well as covering different items used in spellwork with explanations and helpful hints for each. I would most definitely buy this book all over again only this time I would get a copy for a special friend! I also had the privilege of meeting Tish at a book signing done at StoneKeepers. She was very polite and when I was about to leave she Thanked me and took my hand...I felt a tremendous strength and knowledge within her along with the experience that only comes with life! Meet her if you can!
